Your Life Journey

What is it about your life journey that is so important to the direction that you are heading in? Here’s how I worked out it’s importance to me.

When people tell you that you are unique do you ever wonder just what they really mean?  I have, I used to think ‘but I’m nothing special, there are lots of people just like me’.

I was missing the point.  There may well be lots of people ‘like’ me, especially on the surface but none of them have shared my life journey. It is this that has created the person that I am today and the person that I will be in the future.  My own unique blend of experiences, thoughts, actions and beliefs have brought me to where I am now and will continue to direct me going forwards.

Once you have come to this realisation it then makes sense that the blend of experiences, thoughts, actions and beliefs that you have going forward will create the future you.  From there it is a short jump to see that making a small change in any of these areas will have the potential to create a change in your life journey and the person that you will become.  Change something in each of these areas and that will create a bigger impact and over time the impact can be magnified as you continue to make small changes.

Taking control

In essence this is what the world of self development is about.  It’s about you taking charge of your life journey by deciding what changes you’d like to make to give you different results.

Taking a small example from my life journey.

Back at school when I chose what subjects to study for O Level (yes it was a long time ago) my art teacher told my parents that though I was very enthusiastic I’d never pass an exam.  I’m not sure why but I chose not to believe him and two years later I was the proud holder of a grade C O Level in art.  I’d passed.  Now that exam result hasn’t been useful to me in the slightest in my life journey but as I look back on it now I can see that it’s impact was to improve my self belief.  I trusted myself to go ahead and study the subject that I wanted to and I proved to myself that I could do it.  Now, in the work that I do I know just how important self belief, self worth and self esteem are. That belief in myself, that decision to ignore the advice I’d been given has helped to create strong foundations for the person I am today.

We each have a plethora of change points in front of us each and every day.  The number of decisions we make are huge, the experiences we can open ourselves up to, the number of thoughts that we have and the things we choose to believe. When these are all combined could create an exponential change in our life journey.

Just start with one small change today

Would you choose to change a belief or a thought?  Or perhaps you’d opt to have a different experience or take an action that you might not have before?  Your life direction is more in your hands that you realise and you can opt to take a different direction from this point forwards.

Deciding to take action and make change is not always easy to do. If you’d like some help deciding what you could do or where to start then an Introduction Session could be just what you need. In this 2 hour first session we’ll unload everything onto the table, decide what is most important to you and where best to make a start. After that it will be time to decide what changes will help you move your life forward in the direction of your choosing and which will be the very first small step you feel able to take.
