Seven Questions from Bekka Prideaux

I picked up on a post by Bekka Prideaux the other day about ‘7 questions to review your business and be ready to take action on what you learn.’  Always keen to try out new questions, and knowing Bekka always asks good ones, I sat myself down in the garden with a pen and paper and gave them a go.  (I applied them to life in general rather than business though).

Questions:

  1. How am I doing against my goals?
  2. How do I feel about business/work/life?
  3. What have been my key achievements?
  4. What is working well for me now?
  5. What have I learnt since I last took time to review?
  6. What would I like to be different in 6 months’ time?
  7. What changes do I need to make for that to happen?

The first question and the third were the hardest to answer and I’m not surprised  I have talked before about how we rush from one goal/idea/project to the next without taking time to reflect on what has been achieved.  I’m as guilty as the next person for this so taking some time out to think about these questions was really useful.  I’m really glad that I keep a daily journal and this had my mind map for the year in as it reminded me where I started the year.  Ideally I’ll make a little extra time to go through and see what achievements I’ve missed!

The looking forward and what’s working questions were much easier for me to answer as I’m pretty self aware on a day to day basis about these things.  It helps as well that I did some review and planning work while away on holiday.

In all, as I expected, I’m really glad I took the time out for myself to do this review.  It’s really easy as a coach to encourage others to do this and forget to do it yourself so thanks go out to Bekka for encouraging me to stop and spend some time on myself.

So will you make time and answer those questions?  I’m now looking at how I keep my learning in mind and will be reviewing my Success Planner to make sure I stay on track.
