From dream board to drive

Have you heard about vision boards and dream boards?  No, well the idea is to make up a board with pictures to represent what you want.  The idea is that you put this board some where you can see it every day and it helps you to focus on achieving the things on the board.

In more science like speak – it activates a part of the brain called the reticular activator which runs in your subconscious and hunts out the things it’s been programmed to look for.  You know when you see that item that you really love and think it’s really unusual and then you see it everywhere you look – that’s the reticular activator at work.

So…I’ve had vision boards for a while now and wanted to share with you my recent success.

About 6 months ago I finally made up my mind about the car that I wanted to get next.  I’d spotted it at a local garage and before we’d had a chance to go and look at it, it had sold.  Typical!  So I printed off  a picture of it from the website and stuck it on the dream board in the bedroom.  It was the ideal photo to use as it was in the colour that I wanted as well.

This weekend I took possession of my lovely new car and a replica of that photo is now sitting on my drive (with the keys in my pocket!)

Yes that’s the dream board picture at the top and a photo of me in my new car below.

Isn’t it great that simple tools like this can help us make our dreams come true.

Now obviously it didn’t just turn up on the drive. I had to look at what was for sale on the internet and so on but I was really clear about what I wanted and that made the searching so much easier.
