Only 10s – Mark J Silverman
I have to confess that I read this book because it was free at the time and because it was written by someone from one of the facebook groups I’m in. I really wasn’t sure about it. The additional part of the title is ‘using distraction to get the right things done’ and I think this bit put me off (which is why I didn’t include it above).
Once I started reading though I was really intrigued. Instead of working with a to do list that is thought through, ordered and regimented, Mark introduces a way of working with the things that are really important to you. What’s more he encourages you to look at what is behind a task and to see whether or not that is something that matters to you. With this new perspective he then creates his own system for lists.
I noticed that this felt more in line with the way I’ve been working recently but I have to admit that I’ve baulked at actually putting his method into action. I’m tempted but there’s a strong inclination to hang on to what is working for me at the moment. However, the minute that my system stops working I’ve got this to hand. If you decide to read the book and give it a go let me know how you get on!
